UTS Legal
UTS Legal Services is located within the Registrar's Division of the University. UTS Legal Services provides legal services to the University across a broad range of legal and commercial issues. UTS Legal Services plays an important operational and strategic role within the University. The University requires an effective and commercially astute in-house legal service that is sensitive to the context in which the University is managed and operates.
UTS Legal Services is required to respond to issues arising both from within the University and from a wide range of external sources such as government agencies and legislative changes.
We act for the University and provide legal services to staff. We do not act for staff or students personally.

For use of the University Logo - please refer to the Rules of the University. Applications can be taken for the use of the Logo.
What to do in the case of:
Getting external legal advice: Subject to the Registrar's or Director of UTS Legal Services approval, external legal advice may be sought and may be paid from the legal budget or incorporated into project costs.
Subpoena and/or other court documents: Contact the Director, UTS Legal Services if served with a legal process (e.g. subpoena) addressed to the University.
A dispute about legal rights and obligations of the University: Contact the Director, UTS Legal Services.
Preparation of a Protocol for Execution of Documents: it is the responsibility of the person who has taken primary responsibility for the matter in respect of which the document is required. In regard to copies, as a rule of thumb, one original copy for each party to the document should be distributed. This should be confirmed with UTS Legal Services.
Execution of a document on behalf of the University: Refer to the Register of Standing Delegations.
Agreements including all proposed agreements, memorandum of understandings (and in some cases letters of agreement): Need to be checked by UTS Legal Service.
